It is important to note that there are significant high-risk factors that are applicable to youth populations that greatly impact the potential for experiencing and requiring treatment for substance abuse disorders. From studies throughout the years we can see that there are a multitude of factors that go into the development of substance use disorders. A large portion of the current literature is dictating that youth risk factors have a significant impact on the likelihood of substance use disorder development.
